Strengthening Respect for Human Rights and Decent Work for Youth in Pakistan’s Textile and Leather Industry

Funded by the European Union, SPARC in partnership with The Centre for Child Rights and Business is implementing a three-year initiative titled “Strengthening Respect for Human Rights and Decent Work for Youth In Pakistan’s Textile And Leather Industry,” this initiative aims to improve working conditions, enhance labor rights protection, and strengthen corporate accountability across supply chains.

Pakistan’s textile and leather industries are the backbone of the country’s economy, providing millions of jobs and contributing significantly to exports. However, these industries also face serious challenges, including child labor, unsafe working conditions, and labor rights violations. Many young workers, particularly those aged 14 to 18, as well as women and marginalized groups, are trapped in exploitative conditions with little to no protection. The EU’s support plays a critical role in enabling this project to create meaningful, sustainable change in the lives of vulnerable workers across Pakistan.
